SoSo is a mother with 3 children. Our medical programme initially supported her because she needed help with her thyroid condition. Her situation at home worsened because of her husband's mental health, and she became frightened for the safety of herself and her children if she stayed with him. She asked for our help and came into our Mother and Child Protection Centre with her three children, ages 1, 6, and 12—two girls and one boy. This was a woman who cared deeply about her children and their future. The family stayed in our MPC for 2 years.
The mother showed great potential and worked diligently for a small salary from COF to save for her children's future. She was always ready to support other mothers who came into the programme and helped in the children's nursery. Management and staff felt she could become an asset to COF and offered her a position as a care mother with salary, training, and support. She was thrilled to be given the opportunity and for her children to access the education that she felt could change their lives. Her children enjoy school, and her eldest daughter will attend university soon. The mother is taking good care of children in COF and has proved to be a competent and caring house mother.
