In March 2022, we began building three more rooms for Children of the Forest’s Mother and Child Protection Sanctuary area to help meet the increased demand for emergency housing for single stateless women and their children. In part, the extra demand is being driven by the latest wave of COVID-19 infections, but also by the locked down border and the lack of safe work opportunities in the area. We hope to complete the rooms by the end of March 2022. The extra rooms will give us a total of 9 rooms with the capacity to accommodate 9 mothers and as many as 30 children.
